Twenty years ago today, you breathed your last breath
And flew away to your heavenly home
The hole in our hearts- it’s still there… maybe larger
Unspoken words, thought over and over
Occasions and mundane days, your chair still so empty
Please know, I miss you today, Mom, and all days
I so desperately hope you can peek over heavens railing
And see your own girls living you out – in love, and smiles, and in silly kindnesses
Your grandgirls, as sunflowers, buoyantly thriving and blooming
Today, Day of Hearts – most don’t know they were yours first
In all ways, you wore them, and wrote them, and lived them
I pray you can know your life lives on in us
I love you, Mom
And miss you, so dearly.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
Today’s a little peek into who my mom was and still is to me, plus a few snapshots below.
Feb 13, 2004, we got the call that mom had collapsed, preceded by a massive headache. She was two months shy of her 56th birthday. An air flight to a hospital in the city, and news we dreaded hearing. She was probably gone quite quickly, but her heart (ironically) was strong, she finally slipped away the next morning.
I’m not trying to rain on all the kisses and chocolates posts, for mom- a lover of all things hearts, Valentine’s Day was her favorite of holidays. It is not lost on me, that it is the day the Lord called her home.
Her mom, my gram said, ‘a girl never gets over the loss of her mother’.
If you knew my mom, I’d love if you’d post a favorite memory of her.
