Happy New Year!! Fresh starts, new beginnings and resolve. All the dreams of being organized, living more productive, disciplined lives. Maybe even a few resolutions. But the truth is, and I see my Insta- artist friends posting too, about the struggle with January doldrums (I’m over here waving my hand wildly too).
The creative, very busy of the holiday season (which generally is in full force by end of August) melts into quiet, cold January. The season quickly rolls over into Valentines Day, spring, Easter….I’ve got lots of ideas swirling around in my brain, I open my laptop, and Nothing! I feel like I’ve got Nothing!
I know you hear me, and feel that same creative/writer’s block. How do you get past it? What advice can you give?
I love this Steve Martin quote: Thankfully perseverance is a good substitute for talent. Be encouraged friend, keep going. Do the work. The talent, the creative will come along side…just don’t give up!
Print this little gem, hang it over your workspace…hopefully it will give you that little nudge to keep doing your work!
Bet you didn’t think Steve Martin would be the inspirational one today!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
